Are you still looking for a fun activity with your faithful friend this summer? In Belgium it is possible to take your dog with you on certain beaches! Because nothing is more fun than seeing your dog enjoy the beach and the sea, and what is nicer than not having to put your dog on a leash. Enjoy quality moments together on beaches in Belgium!
Taking the dog to the beach
We have previously written about the beach of Middelkerke , which is public for dogs, but today we would like to update you about the alternative options! There are four more beaches in Belgium where you are welcome with your four-legged friend.
Cool down during the summer
How wonderful is it when both you and your four-legged friend can cool off after a hot summer day? If your dog loves water, a day trip or weekend to the beach is ideal! Fortunately, there are five beaches in Belgium where dogs are welcome, some of which even require dogs to be kept on a leash! We are happy to list them for you.
De Panne
Dogs are welcome on the beautiful beach from the Sailing Car Center to the French border every day from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Leash is not required here.
The beach is located an hour and a half from Brussels and Antwerp . Are you coming from the Netherlands? Count on 2.5 hours from Rotterdam or 3 hours from Amsterdam .
Middelkerke
We've talked about this special dog beach before , after all it is a popular destination for dogs and owners! Dogs are welcome here all day, no matter what day of the week! Just leave the leash at home, it is not mandatory!
An hour and 20 minutes from Brussels and Antwerp you will find yourself on the beach of Middelkerke. From Rotterdam you should take 2 hours into account, and from Amsterdam just under 3 hours.
Rooster
Besides being a beautiful coastal town in Belgium, four-legged friends are welcome here every day on the unsupervised areas of the beach! A leash is also optional here.
From Antwerp and Brussels you can reach De Haan beach in 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Rotterdam about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Amsterdam to De Haan takes approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes.
Knokke-Heist
A super popular coastal town, among the population of Belgium but also for tourists from abroad. In addition to the beautiful boutiques and delicious restaurants, dogs are also welcome on the beach! You are welcome all day on the beach from Surfers' Paradise to the border with the Netherlands.
Knokke-Heist can be reached from Antwerp in just over an hour. From Brussels, take an hour and a half into account. From the Netherlands you can reach Knokke-Heist in 2 hours from Rotterdam , and 2 hours and 40 minutes from Amsterdam .
Ostend
The last beach where dogs are welcome is in the tourist seaside resort of Ostend. In July and August, stray dogs are welcome on the Ostend beach before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m., except on the Klein Strand and the sports beach. They are allowed on the Oosteroever from Strandhoofd 5 to the border with Bredene every day, regardless of the time of day.
If you go to Ostend from Brussels or Antwerp , you can reach the seaside resort in an hour. From Rotterdam in 2 hours, and Amsterdam in just under three hours.
